All I hear from Memphis residents is that DeSoto County is getting a free ride concerning taxes paid to the city of Memphis. It will be a cold day in Hell before I will ever spent a cent in Memphis. Even got a tax free purchase of new furniture at Ashley's for my daughter. All in all...I saved about $250. As for the person feeling unwelcomed in Memphis...all I hear is whining. Stay home if you're that delicate - it's dangerous out there. I’m starting a new job in a few weeks and needed a new wardrobe so I definitely took advantage of the tax free weekend.
