are you going to music fest

We were talking in the newsroom today about Memphis In May and Beale Street Music Fest. I’m wondering how many of you plan to head down to Tom Lee Park? With the storms we’re getting, it’s definitely going to be a mess!!! Organizers are hoping a strong line up will draw in more people.

    Project Pat is one of Prouds running dogs, and Triple 6 Mafia.

    Good morning, Mister tj21.

    Did you have a nice time? Sorry I had to leave early.

    MusicFest? Not on your life. I have to listen to the drunks yelling under my windows anyway - this Monday morning I need to go home and pull the blinds and sleep for a week. Friday when it was raining was the only night they didn’t yell till 2 a.m. ….

    I’m irretrievably addicted to peace and quiet. I wish they would move this whole Memphis in May idiocy out to the Fairgrounds and disturb somebody else’s sleep. Move it to Orange Mound - they don’t sleep there, anyway - they drink and yell and shoot each other all night all the time….

    Good morning Proud and Victorian! Hope you had a great weekend!

    Not really, Tat - what with all the drunks at Memphis In Mud on my front doorstep till wayyyy past closing time, I need to take the rest of this month off and go someplace quiet, like some little one-horse town with one hotel and one grocery store, and SLEEP. They would leave Tom Lee about 10 or 10:30, whatever time the music shut down for the night, and I guess would go to the bars on Beale - but WHEREVER they ended up, they all seemed to congregate within the two blocks both north and south of our home. I am TIRED this morning; not even 100-proof coffee seems to help….

    signing off - tired of the racist rants and intentionally offensive posts. You guys really need to grow up.

    George - thanks for the blog. It used to be fun.

    At vicky;

    How do you know what we do in Orange Mound? I say the Music Fest needs to stay where it is.

    We Downtowners will be glad to share, tj….

    “At vicky: How do you know what we do in Orange Mound?”

    At TickyJay: How do you know what goes on in the minds of white people?

    victoriancatholic, I totally understand how annoying people partying can be. I hope you can get some peace and quite this week!

  17. 17 victoriancatholic May 5, 2008 at 11:40 am

    Thank you, Tat. I intend to try, even if I have to invest in some white-noise headphones. My husband and I were awake until past 2 this morning, and then had to get up at 5:30-6:00 to get ready for work. So I did NOT start my day on a good footing…. And the litter Downtown is INCREDIBLE.

    No way. Why go all the way downtown when one can get carjacked or mugged so much closer to home. I prefer to let the local criminals have a crack at me. But be warned…I’m packing.
