A jury in Nashville found John Ford guilty on all six charges in his Nashville trial for public corruption.
Ford, a Memphis Democrat, was accused of accepting more than $800,000 from TennCare contractors Doral Dental of Mequon, Wis., and Omnicare of Memphis while promoting their interests as a lawmaker.
The jury began deliberations Thursday.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
There is finally justice in Tennessee.
Maybe the Ford family will realize they are not
the “First Family” of Memphis.
John, do your chores well in prison!
I think he should go to prision and spend the rest of his life there. If a person on the street did somthing like that their would not be going to court we would go to jail. Just because he is a FORD he thinks he is special.
Actually, I feel a bit sorry for him. This, leaves little doubt he will die in Federal prison.
He has nothing left to look forward to in life, except of course, being a prison granny.
HA! Busted!
FINALLY THERES SOME JUSTICE IN MEMPHIS. THE FORDS DIDNT WIN THIS ONE
IT’S ABOUT TIME THE FRODS FOUND OUT THEY CAN NOT DO AS THRY WOUNT. MAYBE THE SISTER IS NEXT
Justice has been served up this time for sure!! I hope his arrogant azz rots in prison!! Common criminal!
Thank you Lord for finally letting justice be served! John Ford has been a crook all his life as are all the Fords in Memphis. I only wish this jury had been on Edmond Ford’s trial. Thanks to all the jury members for their hard work. I know all the evidence was overwhelming, but they made the right decision and I appreciate them for it.
One down…
I’m so glad that John Ford didn’t get off. The jury in Nashville did right. he would have got off if the trial was in Memphis, because in the eyes of alot Memphians the Ford family can do no wrong.
======================
George: But remember, Ford was convicted by a jury here in his last corruption trial.
I do NOT believe this is the right verdict, but it really didn’t surprise me. He knew his time was up after Operation Get Rid of the Black Folks went to court. For all of those gloating over the apparent demise of the Ford family, I say this time, you won. Next time, we will. This verdict was a travesty of justice. This is victory for no one. For all of John’s problems—most of which were self-induced—another conviction is far from fair. But to those who smile upon this garbage, I wonder will you be smiling when it’s your turn?
===========================
George: Let’s not forget two of those caught up and convicted in Operation Tennessee Walz were white, not that it matters…
Not to say all law makers are corrupt but Mr. Ford’s case is like a grain of sand on a beach.
I think he has gotten just what he deserves. However, the “prison” he has been in since his last conviction is actually like a vacation resort and not a real prison in which he would have to work his a_____ off like other thieves, murderers, liars, etc. I hope he rots in prison for what he has put so many people through. He has taken away so much from the people who need it.
Maybe the rest of the Ford family and others like him will take notice now.
One down, several more to go. What is truly a shame is that taxpayer $$$ will be used to house him. Maybe the feds will go after Mayor Potatohead next-Memphians could only be so lucky…
one ford down…many more to go…at last justice…bury the SOB
What an intelligent jury! OR does it take that much intelligence to see how corrupt Memphis politics are?! The hits just keep on coming with the Ford family. Enjoy time well deserved John
Talk about something that finally gives you hope for the American justice service. All I can say is thank God and it’s about time!! Hope Johnny-boy enjoys his tailor-made striped suit.
John you got what you deserved! I feel sorry for your kids. King Willie, I hope you are next!!!!!
i feel very sorry for the entire Ford family, but mostly for John & Tamara’s small children. John will probably die in prison and this verdict may just push Tamara further into alcoholism once she is released. The federal government may have won, but for the kids of John Ford, they lose and in a mighty way! Thise of you who are gloating and glowing with joy, beware! let he that is without sin, cast the first stone!
This is a great day.I hope that he thinks about all of the people that he has hurt and the system did not let us down this time.Who will be next???????
King Willy will be next I hope.A little payback is needed for him destroying Memphis.
To tj21….why does it have to be about “black” vs. “white” or “you” vs. “us”? Why can’t it be about honesty, character and integrity? I do feel for the Ford family and the children who will suffer due to their father’s crimes…….but please do not blame his guilty verdict on anyone but John Ford himself. I agree with your statement that his problems are self induced, but why would you then say it was not fair? Your vindictive attitude might better be served by helping to erase prejudice and developing men and women to be responsible for their actions. Please try to ignore those who are are “gloating”…..certainly that is not right either. Justice, according to 12 jurors is served. We were not there to hear all the evidence and therefore must trust that the jurors did the correct thing. You nor I were there to make an informed decision. Our government can function better, more legitimately and honestly with dishonest politicians absent. It is about the MAN (or woman)…….NOT the color!
Today is a great day for all of Memphis ! It is time for us to take this city back, KING WILLIE IT IS NOW YOUR TURN! Who knows maybe they will be cell mate’s ?
I am a combat veteran of Iraq. I moved to Cordova after serving honorably in the US Army. Politics in Memphis are a joke. A failed school system, corrupt allegations regarding the city mayor, police corruption, all involve black leadership. I have seen Fords driving under the influence, taking bribes, leaving th scene of an accident, etc. What do you want for Memphis? Prosperity? Start with Accountability! Can black leadership succeed? Try raising the standard.
Poor John Ford indeed. You still hear the people t put him in office crying that this is not a fair verdict. It is more than fair for the crook!
OH PLEASE…. It is all a white folks plot to get rid of the Blacks? Give me a break TJ21, John Ford may have been black, but there were others there that were “WHITE” and a criminal is a criminal. John Ford broke the law, John Ford took the bribes, John Ford tried to hide the facts and then like so many others tried to play the race card placing the blame on anyone and everyone but himself. I do not recall another person (Black, White, Orange, Red or any other color you can think of)forcing Ford to do the things he did, So think on that before you place the blame on anyone else, the results would have been the same if you or I had done the crime. So lets leave the racist comments out, and go with the facts of the matter. I personally believe and thank the jurist’s (of whom some where black by the way) for the work they did, and hope that some of them will be around on the next trial. Hmmm Willie Harrington perhaps?
Well at least it’s a START!!
I am glad that our justice system is getting back on the right tract and bringing and convicting people that think they are above the law. I just hope that any other “higher courts” don’t overturn this verdict.
My hat is off the the FBI and TBI for a job well done.
FINALLY THIS NEEDED TO HAPPEN. NOW WE NEED KING WILLIE AND THE REST OF HIS ROYAL COURT!!
I know in this life everyone has a pay day. I would only hope the government would think of the children and put the monies from the Rolex into a trust fund for his children.
TJ21 wants us to belive it was Operation Get Rid of the Black Folks, just remember no one made John take the money and brag that he’s the one who gets things done. He was so far gone his own brother Harold, whom I have great respect for, told him he was looking for trouble. Should we feel bad also for everyone else who took the money in exchange for their votes, including Ricky Peete for a second time? Even more disturbing is the fact John’s district would probably re-elect him if he ever ran again, regardless of his convictions and the video of him bragging and taking the money. It’s about time that Memphians can stop being embarrased by our politicians and all the corruption. No wonder we aren’t taken seriously nationwide as a major city. On top of all this, we have a mayor that took his last election so casual that his capaign slogan was “Shake the haters off”, what an embarrasment.
Thank God and the American Justice System for giving the arrogant jerk exactly what he deserves. Just maybe Memphians will grow some strength and show some pride after seeing that true justice can be served.
So he forfeited his Rolex to the State of Tennessee? Maybe whoever is taking care of the Ford children will finally get some kind of child support while BOTH parents of these kids are in jail. Maybe when the kids are old enough they can move completely out of Memphis to a city where no one knows them and they can be just two more out of the millions of kids with no parents…. At least, if no one knows them they won’t have to explain ‘my dad died in prison’ and ‘my mom’s a drunk’. This whole family needs a lot of prayer – but they have no one to blame but themselves. No one made Tamara take a drink, and no one made John take a bribe.
Sympathy? Not on your life. Only for the children who have to suffer needlessly for the sins of the parents…
“Why can’t it be about honesty, character and integrity?”
Because then no one would get elected.
“TJ21 wants us to belive it was Operation Get Rid of the Black Folks”
I personally don’t care what you believe. Don’t try to make me out to be the fall guy in this fiasco. Some of the people involved in this garbage were white, but the overwhelming majority of them were BLACK, and we are sick and tired of you people whining when we’re in charge, and gloating when one of us goes to prison on some trumped-up charge. That the people in Ricky Peete’s district were dumb enough to vote for him—again—is not my concern. He is not indicative of Black politicians in Memphis. That some of them went astray does not mean the rest of them will, and everything they know about skirting the laws of this state, they learned from you people. John got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He is paying for it now. That may make some of you people have faith in the justice system, but for me, this is a farce.
King Willie (as some folks call him)is not next, not never, with all the corruption going on, do you think He would have ran for reelection if King wasn’t King
TJ, you are a chump. Don’t be sad though, John Ford probably will be in Club Fed less than a year maybe 18 months. Holy cow, I would go to Club Fed for $800K.
TJ, who is putting blacks out of office? Blacks are doing it themselves, Memphis is about what, 80-85 % black, how do the whites have any say. That so called mayor dictates everything there.
As for feeling sorry for the Ford kids….why just another baby’s daddy in jail story. There are so many Fords in and out of jail. And the ones not caught yet, they are living well on tax payer and other corruption money, so those little Ford babies are not going to be inconvienanced.
And Ricky Peete IS indicative of Black politicians in Memphis.
Actually one of the few good black politicians seems to be a Ford, Harold Jr. And don’t forget Mr. Lowery. The rest including Worten are all crooked and out for themselves and screw the people in the process.
Do I hear someone whining again? Oh, it’s just a nobody named Ken. There are other ways in which the racially biased, very unfair Republican party can force its will on the people–one of which is prosecuting members of the opposing party on trumped-up charges. If you’re dumb enough—and you probably are—to believe this was not politically motivated, I have a bridge to sell you in the Tropics. And you’re right—you don’t have anything to say. So why are you talking?
Why would anyone feel sorry for John Ford after all he’s done. His kids might suffer but, if he cared about his kids like a responcible adult, he would have kept nose clean. He knows right from wrong. He can’t blame anyone but himself. I don’t care for anyone that thinks they are above the law. It’s everyone’s decision to keep yourself out of trouble or not. Those who don’t will have to pay sooner or later.
