Why are most of the major crimes commited by blacks? They want something done to help stop these crimes. THEN LEARN HOW TO RAISE YOUR CHILDREN TO BE RESPONSIBLE ADULTS AND STOP BLAMING THE WHITES FOR SOMETHING OUR ANCESTORS MIGHT HAVE DONE. I am so tired of the racial divide I see in Memphis. I work here but I live in Tipton County. I don’t owe ANYBODY anything for what happened 100 years ago.
I had hoped that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would have taken this experience and teach the young kids that this is not the thing to do.Don’t point guns,not even toy guns because police officers can not tell the difference sometimes and this is what it leads to.Instead of making a racial issue,use it to teach.This is only teaching our youth to be more racially divided.
Our leaders should be more responsible in their teaching.
It is a horrible thing that happened to deonte farrow. My prayers go out to the mother and also to the police officer that shot him. We all need to teach our children right and wrong.
Why is the other boy lieing and his father is letting him. His father was there when he signed the statement to the police and then with him again when tell something totally different when on TV. Truth is Truth if a camera is there or not. With the changing of stories I am begining to think that all the family wants is noterity and money since now they are talking of sueing. Why won’t anyone in the family take some of the blame for buying the toy gun? I had to have several talks to my own son years ago about gangs, police, and truth years ago. Why did the family allow this kid to have a toy gun outside the house. Even if he was doing nothing wrong, let’s get real here, Gangs are everywhere and they could have mistaken the toy for a real gun and the outcome would have been the same except for one thing. The family wouldn’t be sueing for $1.2 million dollars and I don’t think we would have had Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton showing up. Let’s stop making everything racial and start assuming some responsibility as parents. We all need to remember that OUR CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE just what are we really teaching them?
Why does the so called cousin keep telling different stories, the officer reacted in the dark to someone with a gun , beit real or a toy, it’s hard to tell, if it had been a real gun and the officer were shot and killed there would not be much of nothing said by the public, Al Sharpton wouldn’t be found, it seem to be a racial and money thing by the family and Al Sharpton, PEOPLE teach your children to be responsible and to not do as your families do at times , but to do what is right, no matter where you are black or white.

The Kawanza story is an interesting one indeed. First let me say that we have enough religious groups as it is without more and yes Kawanza is a religious celebration. If God or a higher being is mentioned anywhere in the celebration or ceremony or whatever it takes on a religious meaning. So no matter what they say Kawanza is religious. That having been said, that puts it under the law or policy of not having it in the County Chambers just like all the other religious denominations activities. The Kawanza observance is illegal and should NOT be allowed. What part of the word NO do they not understand and NO it is not racial unless the Kawanza observers make it such. Period. End of story.
As for Mr. Thomas and his lawsuit. You need to get over it too. Your lawsuit is a sourgrapes situation caused by the fact that the county won’t let you push your beliefs on others. It’s peoople like you that have caused all of this controvercy because you want to force your personal belief on other people. Oh and before you go off on a tangent I am a practicing christian. Caring about and for others and I’m in church every sunday. Are you?
As for the politically correct rant about it being unlawful to wish people Merry Christmas it is just that - a rant. I don’t care if I offend you. You don’t care if you offend me. You offend me by being offended when I wish you Merry Christmas. GET OVER IT. It should be nobodies business how I greet you during the holiday season. Just smile, nod, give me the finger I don’t care just let me do what I want and you do the same in that regard. We have books full of laws - we don’t need any more. Oh - Merry Christmas!!

I worked for the Memphis City Schools while you were (Superintendent) and watched a good school system drop to the level that it is today!!! Willie if you want to have total rule over the public maybe you need to run for mayor in Russia, China, Vietnam or maybe North Korea!!!!

CAUSES:
This is a sign of the times that have been produced by trying to be politicaly correct.
1. You took prayer out of school.
2. You took parential rights from parents.
3.You control the economic enviroment to the point that parenta are so business trying to earn a
liviable wage, therefore parents are so busy working that, they don’t have time to teach thier childern the life skills that they need to survive.
4. They also don’t have the time to manage the free time of the childern.
SOLUTIONS:
1. Put prayer back in school.
2. put paddling bact in school and also give parents the right to paddle.
3. When a child uses a gun in school, not only charge the student, also charge the parents also.
The parents should get 1 year for each bullet fired. Father & Mother should both be held responsible.
If you send one set of parents to jail, parents will be more responsible for thier childern.

Having metal detectors in schools will do no good. When students see a line out side the school they will turn around and hide the gun in the bushes. A suggestion might be to let everyone in the schools auditorium. Let no one leave out, then have every student walk through the detectors.
What came first? The chicken or the egg? Is it life imitating art or art imitating life? Who knows? All kinds of arguements can be made as to why children are shooting children, but the most important is the high rate at which the breakdown of family values have declined. While it is nearly impossoble to quantify the moral breakdown, you can certainly look at the demographics of the American family. Single parent families are at the highest we have ever seen in our society, but its not just some single parents that may hold the blame, but the higher end, middle and lower end income dual working parent demographic as well. Why? Quite simply, lack of parent supervision pre and post school hours. Therefor,lending to the lack of consequence children have to pay for their mischevious and sometimes illiegal espcapades. We have become a an “enough is never enough” and a “keep up with the ‘Jones’” society just so we can have it all or just to get by! Couple that with the ironic and coincindental timing of removing corporal punishment in the school system and you’ve got a pack of kids out of control! We HAVE to swing the pendelum of family values and ethics back the other way and that my friend is going to mean sacrifice and self discipline. Our children are our home and family cultural mirror images and if they can’t get it, have it, or just simply feel wronged, they will act out in a display of tantric, and unruly behavior! The school system can put tanks and armed guards in schools, but where there is a will there is a mischevious way! We have only ourselves to blame!
It’s not surprising to me that school officials missed the fact that another weapon on campus, when you can all but stand on school grounds & light up as if they are at home. It is very unfortunate that our children put such little value on life. Again regardless structure begins at home. Also, I hate what happened to that young man, but someone should have put a sock in his brother’s mouth, because you don’t get on TV & all but directly threaten someone.
Why is it that John Ford gets to remain out of jail to care for his children while the drunken, drugged out mother of his children serves her time in jail. The average citizen with equal crimes would have had those childred removed from the home and placed as wards of the state and in foster care or another family member would have cared for them. I is a sad day when the Justice system shows favoritisim to the FORD EMPIRE once again. Will this never end ???????
Why should john ford receive different treatment than anyone else? Since he was an elected official he and any other elected politician should get even tougher punishment for being a crook. Dirty politicians are lower than the average crook!!! Put him in prison and leave him there.
I live in Parkway Villiage/Fox Meadows.Walmart is closing our Walmart On Ameican Way……Why.????..I am A senior ..i do not drive a far peice.I hate drive down windchester..it scares me..Now Walmart is forcing us to go to the Walmart on Windchester..Walmart was supposed to buld a Walmart Super Store/Sam’s Club at the Mall of Memphis,That is reason they torn down the Mall Of Memphis..Now they will not build one there and Promise to keep American Way Store Open ..they lied..Walmart trying to bulid a store at Houstson Leeve that neighborhood does not want them..our neighborhood does.
Just because My neighborhood is the HOOD..We have money here TOO..
